5 Simple Ways To Beautify Your Lawn and Garden

5 Simple Ways To Beautify Your Lawn and Garden

March 24, 2015 By Woodsman Staff 1 Comment

Still trying to figure out how to create a more aesthetically pleasing lawn and garden?

Whether you consider yourself a green thumb or not, there are several different ways to improve the beauty of your garden. All it takes is a little bit of work and dedication.

Here, we’re going to reveal 5 simple and effective ways to beautify your lawn and garden.

Add a Bird Feeder

Adding a bird feeder to your garden will instantly create a more attractive and naturally relaxing atmosphere. As long as you keep it clean and stocked with fresh seeds, birds will come in to check it out.

One of our favorite garden birds is the Blue Jay, which you can attract with a feeder setup using a mixture of sunflower seeds and peanuts. Even if they are shelled, a Blue Jay should have no problem breaking through to reach the seeds.

You can target other bird species by using the appropriate feed mixture.

Plant Some Roses

Roses are another wonderful addition to the garden. Their bright, bold and warm colors will instantly beautify the atmosphere. They also provide a wonderful aroma that can fill your garden with the sweetest smells.

And contrary to what some people may believe, roses are actually quite easy to grow. Visit your local plant nursery and choose a variety of roses that works well here in the Austin area.

The secret to growing big, healthy rose bushes is to prune away excess leaves and shoots. If certain parts of the bush are taking over, don’t be afraid to cut them back with a pair of pruners.

Include Stepping Stones

Of course, no garden is complete without a path of stepping stones. There’s a naturally relaxing vibe created with stepping stones in a garden.

It adds a subtle touch to the atmosphere while providing a walking path for you, guests and members of the family.

Stepping stones are a better, more attractive choice than traditional brick pavers, so try to incorporate them into your garden when you can.

Keep The Weeds Out

If you want to create a truly beautiful garden, you must get into the habit of weeding it. Allowing weeds to take over your garden will take away from its natural beauty.

Thankfully, there are several different ways to prevent this from happening, one of which is to keep your garden covered with pine straw or wood chips. This should prevent weeds and unwanted plants from receiving sunlight; thus, keeping them out of your garden.

When a weed is able to make its way through this covering, however, you’ll need to pull it out from the root.

Keep Up With Yard Maintenance

Yard maintenance goes hand in hand with creating a beautiful garden. Overlooking basic maintenance such as cutting the grass on a regular basis will harm the aesthetics of your garden.

Here in Central Texas grass typically requires cutting once every week during the summer. Stay on top of your yard maintenance by cutting the grass and removing dead leaves to create a more beautiful lawn and garden.

The Woodsman Company offers tree planting, tree pruning and shrub trimming, tree removal and stump grinding as well as a tree wellness program.

I try to keep up with my mulching so that I don’t have to weed as often. It also helps keep water from evaporating meaning that I have to water less often. However, I also think it is a good idea to use as many native plants in your landscaping as possible. The plants will be hardier and attract more natural wildlife including birds.
