How to Hide a Tree Stump

How to Hide a Tree Stump

June 13, 2017 By Woodsman Staff 4 Comments

Do you have one or more tree stumps in your yard? You can chop at tree stumps all day long with an ax without making any noticeable difference.

However, there are ways to hide tree stumps and conceal their appearance, some of which we’re going to discuss in this blog post.

Turn it Into a Bird Bath

One innovative solution is to turn your tree stump into a bird bath. There are actually several ways to accomplish this, one of which is by simply placing a bird bath atop the stump.

Alternatively, you can cut out a small dish-shaped bowl in the top of the stump and fill it with water.

Not only is this a fun way to conceal a tree stump, but it will also attract birds, which is another reason to consider a stump-turned-bird-bath.

Build Pavers Around It

Assuming the tree stump is small, you may be able to conceal it by building brick pavers around it. If it’s no more than six inches tall, creating a perimeter of brick pavers around the stump should conceal it.

You can even arrange the pavers in different ways for greater aesthetics. Feel free to experiment with different paver designs to see what works best for your lawn. With a little ingenuity, you can conceal your tree stump with an arrangement of brick pavers.

Turn it Into a Flowerbed

No, that’s not a typo. Some homeowners have concealed their tree stumps by turning them into flowerbeds. Simply cut a bowl into the top of the stump, fill it with soil, and add your favorite flowers.

For added visual appeal, try growing flowers around the tree stump as well. There’s nothing that compares to the look of colorful flowers. It’s far more appealing than a barren tree stump sitting in the middle of your yard.

Turn it Into a Chair

Another innovative way to hide a tree stump is to turn it into a chair. There are numerous videos on YouTube and elsewhere showing how to do this.

You don’t have to necessarily carve the chair out of the stump. Rather, you can add a seat to the top of it.

Remove It

Of course, a more permanent solution is to have the tree stump removed by a professional. Using heavy machinery, they’ll grind and pulverize the stump until there’s nothing left.

So, if you’re looking to remove the stump from your yard once and for all, hire a professional tree/stump removal company.

The Woodsman Company offers tree planting, tree pruning and shrub trimming, tree removal and stump grinding as well as a tree wellness program.

Wow, that’d be fun if I were able to turn my tree stump into a small flowerbed. I don’t think that I’d be able to do that though because our tree stump is causing some underground damages to our house. We’re hoping that we can have a company come in and remove it before our family party next weekend.

When the task of removing it becomes too hard, just accept it and find alternatives! Haha ๐Ÿ™‚

Great ideas for those stubborn tree stumps that seems to be cemented into the ground. Idea to turn this into a chair or a bird bath, in my opinions is the best one – of course it all depends on the location and size of the stump but be creative and make it a part of the landscape that you will be proud of.

This is actually a great article as stump grinders are brutal machines. Not just noisy and difficult to operate but expensive to hire too!

Unless they’re blocking access etc. I say leave them where they are… we made ours into an attractive garden feature and now have plants growing all around it ๐Ÿ™‚
