Contrary to what many people think, bringing new life and style to your patio doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. There are a number of inexpensive ways to re-decorate your patio, some of which are completely free.

Clean It Up!
Sometimes all it takes to bring new life to your patio is a little bit of cleaning. Don’t just pick up the clutter and misplaced items laying around, but take the time to physically wipe down your furniture.
Even though most outdoor furniture is durable and able to withstand the elements thrown its way by mother nature, it will still attract and accumulate dirt over time.
Take a few minutes each week to go out on your patio and wipe down your furniture with a damp towel. This should remove any built-up dirt and debris.
In addition to cleaning the furniture, you should also take care of the deck. Sweep the dirt, leaves and debris off using a large outdoor push broom.
If you’re willing to go the extra mile, you can add a fresh coat of finish to the deck flooring. Not only will it look better with a new finish, but it will help protect the wood as well.
Plants and Vegetation
If your patio doesn’t contain at least one plant on it, then you aren’t using it to its full potential.
Patios are the perfect area for plants to grow and thrive. Whether you want to grow plants simply for decorative purposes or to eat is up to you. Just take a visit to a local nursery in your area and ask one of the professionals there for a recommendation on what to grow.
Different types of plants and vegetables prefer different climates, so you’ll need to speak with someone with a knowledgeable gardener.
Decorative Items
Just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t add some attractive decorative items to your patio. With a few basic supplies, you can build a birdhouse to place on or near the patio. Anytime you and your guests are outside, you’ll be able to enjoy the signs and sounds of birds native to your area.
Another type of decorative item you should consider is a wind chime. These can be purchased from most home improvement stores for less than $10 bucks, offering a unique style and atmospheric tone when used on a patio.

Thanks for the great advice, it really is disappointing to see how many people leave their patios bare and boring, especially during the summer. After all, summertime is made for spending time out on the patio whether it’s because you’re grilling or putting together a water balloon fight. If you’re going to spend so much time on it, then a patio deserves to look nice and there’s nothing like a few chairs, potted plants, and other outdoor decorations to really bring a patio to life.
